I was never that skinny and never boby-bony.Coming from India; it took time in changing my eating habits. We Indians are so used to employ steaming, roasting; braising and even deep frying.These add not only calories and cholesterol but also saturated fat which is not good for health.You must be knowing about Indian cooking.It's time taking and totally a different culture.We all are food lovers and specially I love to cook both the times, afternoon and evening.
So it depends on the cooking method and type of fat used. Here,I am talking about my pattern, my eating style and what shape I'm right now.
Mom of two kids, getting up early in the morning, concentrating on my routine was not an easy job for me. 5'2", oily skin with wheatish color, I use to revolve at 135 pounds. But before marriage and kids, I was always between 100 to 105 and that was much better.Golden old days;)
Last Feb, when I conceived, I was 140 pounds and delivered the baby at 163.So far I am about to complete 12 months .After my second delivery and after working seriously on my body, I'm now back to 141.
Here's list of 10 things which you should follow to lose weight.
1.Be a morning person.
Get up early in the morning and follow the old saying>>
Early to bed
early to rise
makes a woman/man healthy wealthy and wise>>>empty stomach,first drink 1 glass clean water
I never believed in exercises and joining Gym.I have seen people eating a lot after coming back from the gym.Either they don't eat or they eat a lot.I always believe in doing things myself.There are so many exercises waiting for you.Look around you and you have lot of work yawning ; begging to be done.
2.Take Green tea, 1 cup a day.
3.Avoid red meat, 5 servings veg/fruits,steamed Broccolli, an egg daily.( without yoke)
4.no ice-cream, no creamy thing.
5.Drink water 7 to 8 times day.
6.use olive oil as my cooking oil.
7. knead wheat flour using my right hand.It's a good exercise and also good for my arms.
I can buy it but I knead faster than the machine.I found mopping, the best exercise.
8. I go for Aerobics Dance class and attend it on every Saturday but apart from this; it's my personal choice to dance with madness when ever I feel like doing it>>> at least 15 minutes.You can spend 20 minutes in doing a relaxing Yoga.Stop imitating others lifestyle.It's your body,your health, your capabilties.Do what your body can.
9.Avoid driving sometimes and walk atleast 30 minutes a day.
10.Use brown rice; spend time in reading the calories at the back of the product.Whole food is one of the best places.
Like any other busy mom,I do oil-massage to my 11months old baby, twice a day.Then changing his clothes,diapers,taking him to bathtub,playing with him,running after him when he crawls in speed,making him sleep,nursing....lots of exercise;)
My 7 years old elder son need extra attention.To keep him busy this summer. I join him playing Wii sports.
My Golden tips
I do fasting at every Monday. Only milk and fruits, strictly. Avoid eating junk foods just in the name of weekends.Weekends are to eat the best food prepared in your house.
So, Water, Walking, Waving.... I was so passionate about my own traditional Indian tea but finally very happy to see my reduced weight after switching to green tea .
Fuel the body with healthy snacks, burn your fat by doing simple things
Due to town house, I use steps a lot, in going up and coming down...obviously...
Postpatrum is over. I have started using my old jeans and tops.They are getting friendly to me but still target is to come down to135.
What I understood that to get in shape is not about skipping meals but taking diet in a balanced form. Get active and walk. If you can't go outside, get a Pedometer and count at least 1000 steps a day.
