Tips for Healthy Weight Loss

Healthy weight loss is usually not the first thought that comes to most people's minds when they want to drop 15 or 20 pounds. Most people want to lose weight as quickly as possible not even thinking about healthy weight loss as an option. It is easy to lose weight by simply cutting back the calories and increasing how much you exercise, but dropping the pounds in the more healthier way is the best way to ensure overall well being.

The first tip that I suggest for health weight loss is to find out how many calories you need each day. To do this, you need to multiply your body weight in pounds by 15 and multiply the number of minutes you exercise each day by 3.5 and add these two figures together. That gives you the amount of calories you need each day to maintain your current weight. If you want to lose 1 pound each week, you subtract 500 from your daily caloric intake and if you want to lose 2 pounds, you can subtract 1000 calories. Or you can increase how long you exercise.

Health weight loss tip number two is to eat 5 or 6 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables each day. These foods are low in calories and take up more room in your stomach so that you get full quicker. Berries are considered one of the best fruits, so include those as some of your servings. There are plenty of greens that are good for you that are listed in this article shows the top five healthiest foods picked by dieticians.

Another tip for healthy weight loss is to eliminate red meat and replace it with salmon a couple of times out of the week. I love broiled salmon with olive oil, garlic, and rosemary, but there are so many other ways you can prepare your salmon and other flavors that can make it more savory, etc. You can even have salmon in a salad if you choose. Salmon is a good source of protein and Omega 3 fatty acids.

Water is essential for a healthy body and should have probably been number one on my list of healthy weight loss tips. It is said that everyone needs to drink 8 glasses of water each day, but this number should be increased depending on how active you are. Some people say that you need to take your body weight in pounds and divide by two which will give you the number of ounces of water to drink each day. You could also use a water calculator which can tell you how much water you need to drink today according to different factors. When drinking water, spread it out throughout your day and do not consume all of your water in a short amount of time. Too much of a good thing is never good. Always remember to consult a physician before changing any of your diet or exercising routines.
