There are many people who are on a diet but don't seem to notice a change in weight lose. It seems that food and exercise are not enough to loose weight. Research studies show that weight loses is related to sleep. For example, Orfeu Buxton, PhD states, "Not sleeping enough seems to be associated with metabolic changes that can lead to overeating and obesity, so in studies where sleep restriction in the laboratory was done, subjects tended to have metabolic changes and alterations of glucose metabolism that might lead to their becoming obese in the future." When a person doesn't get enough sleep certain things happen which doesn't help with the so-called diet.
When a person is tired they lack energy. People often want to boost their energy by eating something even if they are not hungry. Usually they think of what will give them quick energy. Often times poor food choices are selected. For example, candy, cookies, French fries, chips and fatty meats. These types of foods only defeat the purpose of loosing weight. When a person gets enough sleep they are more likely to select good foods such as apples, carrots and whole grains.
A person who feels fatigue is less likely to exercise. Excuses are often made to avoid going to the gym. For example a common statement is "I am tired. I will go tomorrow to the gym." This same person often times ends up sitting all day on the couch or computer. A lack of physical activity can contribute to weight gain. When a person gets enough sleep they will feel energized and are more likely to be in the mood to exercise.
A person often feels stressed when they don't get enough sleep. Many people who feel stressed turn towards poor habits that don't help with their weight lose. For example some poor habits are drinking alcohol and eating junk foods. When a person is stressed they are less likely to follow their regime for loosing weight.
A good habit to form in order to loose weight is to get enough sleep. Make sure you sleep eight hours a night and take naps during the day. When you feel low on energy instead of grabbing for a snack take a nap first. You may notice that when you wake up your not as hungry as you were before taking a nap. When you are energized you will be able to exercise and feel less stressed. Try losing weight by making sleeping a part of your diet.
